Criminal Record Checks
Different types of UK criminal record checks are issued in different formats.
ACRO or NPCC certificates are normally issued with an original ink signature, which makes them eligible for the apostille without any solicitor certification.
DBS checks, Disclosure Scotland certificates, and many basic or enhanced disclosures are usually issued unsigned. These documents must be certified by a UK solicitor before the apostille can be issued. We can provide that service.
When You Need An Apostille For A Criminal Record Check:
To provide evidence that you do not have an adverse criminal record you may be asked to provide an apostille on a criminal record check document.
When applying for a job or a working visa in another country you may need to prove you do not have a criminal record that would affect your application. In the UK you can obtain a criminal record background check from the police or other agencies. If you search online you will find many websites offering background checks.
The most common documents we see are….
- NPCC
- ACPO
- ACRO
- Police Letters
- Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) – Signed by solicitor
- Basic Disclosure – Signed by solicitor
- Enhanced Disclosure – Signed by solicitor
- Disclosure Scotland – Signed by solicitor
Some criminal record checks are issued with a signature from the issuing body (such as ACRO) and others are issued unsigned (such as DBS) and therefore solicitor certification which we we can do for you for an additional fee. Most DBS basic disclosures, enhanced disclosures and disclosure Scotland certificates need to be signed by a UK solicitor or notary before the apostille. Please order an apostille with or without solicitor certification as appropriate for your document type, if you are not sure please check with us.
Criminal record background checks may also be referred to as a CRB check or DBS check. We can legalise all background check documents that have been issued in the UK.
