Police Letters
Police Letters are usually issued with an ink signature from the issuing Police Official, making them eligible for apostille only. No solicitor certification is required. Most apostilles are completed in 1–2 working days once received. If you also need a translation or embassy attestation services the processing time will be increased.
When You Need An Apostille For A Police Letter:
When providing evidence that you do not have a criminal history you can request a letter from the police that states you have no criminal record. This document can also state that a criminal history exists and if this is the case you should check if this affects your reason for needing the document. We can still apostille a police letter that states a history.
Police letters are an alternative to the disclosure documents (DBS) and NPCC (Previously called ACPO or ACRO) certificates that are commonly used. Many police letters are issued by NPCC but others are issued by your local police force. Apostilles for police letters are issued in just 1 to 2 days.
If you are looking for employment abroad most prospective employers will ask for you to provide legalised documents confirming the status of your criminal record, if any, that could affect your job offer. If you need advice on the charges or processing times please get in touch by email or telephone.
