Must Be Pre-Certified

Statutory Declaration

Your document must be pre-certified by a UK solicitor or notary public prior to being sent to us. We can then provide the Apostille only for this document.  Most orders are completed in just 1-2 working days all being well. If you also need translation or embassy attestation services the processing time will be increased.

Statutory declarations are used in the absence of other documents that can confirm facts or a legal position.

Frequently used for:

  • Confirming Marital Status for Getting Married Abroad

  • Confirming Personal Details

  • Confirming Legal Facts

A statutory declaration is a legal statement made by one person in the presence of a lawyer, solicitor or notary public. This statement of fact is recorded in a written document and signed by both the person making the statement and the solicitor witnessing the process. They are very similar to affidavits and the two terms are often used by overseas authorities requesting you make a sworn statement. You will often here them referred to as a ‘stat dec’.

Statutory declarations are made for many reasons. You can legally declare a statement of fact on a wide range of subjects.
