
Scottish Criminal Record Checks
Scottish criminal record checks are usually issued with an ink signature from Police Scotland, making them eligible for apostille only. No solicitor certification is required. Most apostilles are completed in 1–2 working days once received. If you also need a translation or embassy attestation services the processing time will be increased.
When You Need an Apostille for a Scottish Criminal Record Check:
If you need to provide evidence that you do not have a criminal record you can request a background check from several organisations. if the document is to be presented outside of the UK you may also need an apostille.
If located in Scotland there you can request a letter from the police or use a criminal record check service. These include Disclosure Scotland, DBS disclosure documents and NPCC (previously called ACPO or ACRO) certificates. It should not matter which organisation you choose to order from, but pleas4 check with the person requesting your document.
If you are applying for a visa, or seeking employment in another country, it is likely you will need to provide a document with your criminal record. If you are applying to teach overseas, the criminal record check is often a prerequisite to a job offer.
