HMRC Letters
Many HMRC letters are issued with a wet-ink signature from an authorised HMRC officer. When your HMRC document has an original ink signature, it is already eligible for the apostille without any additional solicitor certification. Most orders are completed in 1–2 working days once received.
Some HMRC letters are now issued digitally signed (PDF with an electronic HMRC signature). These must be certified by a solicitor before they can be legalised with the apostille.
When You Need an Apostille for an HMRC Letter
If you need to prove that you are a UK resident for tax purposes or pay taxes in the UK or prove that you receive an income in the UK you may need to obtain a document from HM Revenue and Customs confirming this. These documents are produced in different formats depending on the office that you request the letter from.
HMRC can issue certificates of residency. These letters confirm that a person or business is resident in the UK for tax purposes. Many businesses find these documents are requested by overseas companies when doing international business.
